Mostly Six Five Oh

The disembodied white sandal caught my eye as I walked by the ice cream and frozen yogurt place.

The extra is a cartoon on the notice board at the pharmacy in San Mateo where I had to go again because we're trying another formulation of one of Doyle's meds - fish flavor this time.

Had one of those random conversations today with a guy called Jorge, we fell into conversation about Redwood City, SF, Oakland... basically the whole Bay Area and what's changed since I was last living here. His English professor had been on the planning commission for Redwood City a number of years ago and he said how glad he was that all those plans had come to be - the transformation of the downtown core from being a ghost town during office hours to the thriving hub that it is now. The gentrification of Oakland, the tech towers in SF, the crazy commute on 101 - which was already terrible before we left. Turned out we both used to live in SF around the same time and left around the same time. He now lives in East Palo Alto, in the last little bit that hasn't gone crazy with rent and real estate prices. It was a good snapshot of the state of Bay Area from a local. And we discussed restaurants, too. :-)
