Sun sets on Cheshire FA Senior Cup Final

Another excursion to Gresty Road but one where I had divided loyalties. I grew up and went to school in Nantwich, and I went to my first football match at the town's then Jackson Avenue ground. But soon after I started supporting Crewe Alex.

It was a good game. Lots of enterprising, passing football, but with enough mistakes to keep it open. Crewe beat the Dabbers 3-2 in front of 1831 fans, all seated in the main stand.

Back in Nantwich, the physiotherapist visited my Dad today, and we talked about his possible move into residential care. Encouragingly, Dad did say he hadn't given up hope of returning to Hellath Wen if and when he was more physically able and confident (and subject to appropriate adaptations being made to the house, and home care options being in place).

GP also visited - Dad's swollen foot may be a consequence of lack of movement, while the poor strength in his right leg is probably a result of the stroke he had years ago, and his poor right hand grip is likely a consequence of the dislocated elbow last year. We discussed the residential care option; given my Dad's current low confidence, depression and anxiety about his health and mobility, Dr said "some residential care is absolutely the right thing just now". Again, Dad sounded optimistic about becoming less dependent after a respite at Clarendon Court.
