Lake Monowai

This morning we were up shite and briny and away, we traveled over to Manapouri and priced a trip to West Arm and Deep Cove almost a weeks wages thank you very much, well that's just way out of our price rage. We then headed down to Lake Monowai and a quick look at Borland lodge where Marie went on a School camp many years ago and I ran the very first Outdoor First Aid Course for the Southland Branch of the NZ Mountain Safety Council back in the mid 80's. At Lake Monowai there was a mist and low cloud that made this part of the Drowned trees in the Monowai River look quite eerie. We then traveled down along the Southern Coast to Tuatapere where we had a delicious lunch. We traveled a little further south to Orepuki where there is a reasonable amount of dereliction. On the way back we went into Lake Hauroko one of our Deepest lakes in New Zealand.
