Day 3 in Edinburgh. The forecast all week had said Wednesday would be rainy and grey all day, but when we got up it was sunny and dry. We headed out early and up Arthur's Seat. Thankfully we made it up and down before it started raining, but it was insanely windy (we kept feeling like we were going to be blown back down again) and my hands went so numb (taking this photo was a struggle). It was worth it for the view though, incredible.

Back to town and we had lunch in the Elephant Cafe (where JK Rowling wrote lots of HP, also the makers of fantastic lunches) before a city-wide gallery crawl: first to the Fruitmarket to see Martin Creed, then the National Gallery, then out to the two Modern Art galleries (via a pitstop for ginger & pear cake at Cairngorm Coffee).

Walking back into the city we got aaaaabsolutely soaked to the skin, but decided we wouldn't want to go back out later if we went home. Instead we went for an incredible meal at a veggie restaurant off the Royal Mile. We tried to be fancy with our glasses of wine and high-brow conversation but we did look ridiculous, dripping wet and a day's worth of windswept. Thankfully it had stopped raining for the walk home, we were both too full to attempt any kind of speed (and Arthur did rather ruin my weaker knee).
