Now, as I see it......

Mono Monday: Corner

When we moved into this village the Corner Shop was owned by the local Co-op. It didn't last long. It soon closed and other than one short-lived attempt to reopen it, it remained closed and a bit of an eyesore for about the next fifteen years. About five years ago a young family took it over and have made a really good job of it. They've spruced it up both inside and out, it is well stocked and if there is anything you want which they don't have, they ask what you were looking for and make sure they stock it in the future. Offering takeaway coffee, newspapers, lottery tickets and hot snacks has also attracted passing trade, not just from the village. I'm in there every day for my newspaper and often for other things too, and it has made quite a diffence to the atmosphere of the village. Let's hope it continues to thrive.
