no tears...

...courtesy of the very glam 'Dame Edna' style glasses for onion choppers.

Not donned for long though as my very dear friend, foodie and forensic buddy can't see with these to chop onions! We certainly don't want missing digits or wounds...thought this kit would no doubt be super useful (extra).

Sometime later after conversations, crime time on the telly and of course cooking we had lunch.
Kedgeree (extra) cooked from scratch.
Fragrant and delicious a combination of milk poached smoked cod flaked by fingers (extra) , ghee fried ginger, onions and chilli, dill, coriander and basmati rice cooked in the remaining poaching milk.
Oh yes and then there is creme fraiche, hard boiled eggs and crispy onions.

Described as 'Indian flavours and Victorian nursery food' kedgeree is thought to be a colonial version of an Indian/South Asian dish khichri, a mix of rice and legumes.
The once simple and inexpensive dish was taken back to Britain from India and served as a breakfast dish enriched with fish, boiled eggs and cream.
