Bow visor

MV Coruisk leaving on morning sail to Mull from Oban's railway pier. People often express surprise that Calmac ferries may leave quayside with bow visor still lowering. Since the Zeebrugge tragedy of March 1987 vessels have to comply with new laws which require that even if a bow visor was torn away in a storm the bow ramp inside the visor used for loading/unloading of vehicles must be secure and watertight. Calmac the largest ferry company in UK serving 23 islands have a wonderful safety record in the modern era with safety of passengers and ships always a top priority
