howmore

At Howmore we explored the ruined mediaeval chapels at Tobha Mòr, the modern CofS church and the hostel (a converted whitehouse with thatched roof) before following the Howmore river down to the sea. we walked along the beautiful white beach in search of an armchair which D remembered from his former visits to South Uist. Here it is.

Today we saw our first swallow - and a Golden Eagle, majestically ignoring the mobbing gulls before flying off towards the hills.

In the afternoon, we drove to Airight nam Bam, on the north shore of Loch Eynort, where a crofter called Archie has spent years planting trees and creating footpaths. It’s a popular place for a stroll. We met a woman who lives on South Uist and had an interesting discussion about deer ticks and the high incidence of Lyme disease on the island.

I've had to come to a cafe 12 miles from home to upload these last 4 days' blips - so please excuse my lack of comments on your own blips for the next week or 10 days. Happy Easter to you all :-)
