Lacock

It was time this morning to pack up our things and leave for home. It was relatively straightforward to get everything together and into cars. Sad really. We had colonised the place for a week, had a great time and within a very short time, it's as if it hadn't happened and, no doubt, another group is in there now. That's the way of holidays.

I decided to take a short detour to visit Lacock Abbey. It's a place that sounded and felt a long way from home but, in fact, isn't that far. It only took just over an hour from there to here.

Lacock, the home of Henry Fox Talbot, is renowned for being the 'birthplace of photography' and there is an excellent exhibition in the Fox Talbot museum. I only spent an hour or so there but the whole site deserves much longer. I will definitely make it a point of another visit.

Great week away but good to be home.
