Cactus Wren: Arizona State Bird

The female Cactus Wren chose a perfect nesting site,
In our thorny Cholla. 
Together, the pair built this football-shaped nest.
With a side entrance for extra protection.

I didn’t expect to see the male at the nest,
So I was checking out the wildflowers.
When whoa, here he comes.

Luckily this one didn’t have the grass across his eye.
