The Blue Loop

Today we met up with a friend from London and did the Sheffield Blue Loop walk.
The Blue Loop is a continuous loop of waterways and riverside walkways in the heart of Sheffield, made up of The River Don and Tinsley Canal. I find these urban walks fascinating, and this foray into South Yorkshire did not disappoint. We started from Meadowhall (that huge uninspiring shopping centre that is a temple to consumerism and car parks) and walked towards the city centre along the River Don.
We found a lovely tea/sandwich shop at Victoria Quays in the canal basin at the half-way point where we had an al-fresco lunch. The return trip is via the canal. We even saw two Kingfishers, which I haven't seen for some time.
This photo was taken on the first half of the walk which follows the River Don.
