Fennec Fox

A visit to the small zoo in Calderglen Country Park never disappoints.

These beautiful Fennec Foxes are kept in the conservatory where the temperature is kept constant. They come from North Africa where the temperature is somewhat warmer than Scotland. The extra photo shows one of the tiny foxes lying under one of the heat lamps.

The fluffy coat is often a cream colour which deflects heat during the day and keeps the fox warm at night. The large ears help to dissipate heat (not really necessary here!)

I spent some time in the garden this afternoon tidying up the dead daffodils and removing the dead heads from my camellia ... still plenty of blooms to enjoy. Then it was time for a seat on my rickety bench. enjoy a coffee and a read of my book.
