This is the McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender based on the DC-10-30CF civil aircraft design.  It is capable of air to air refuelling using both the hose-and-drogue and flying-boom systems.  She fly’s under the banner of the Air Mobility Command 305th Air Mobility Wing and Air Force Reserve Command 514th Air Mobility Wing.
 

She is based at McGuire Air Force Base in Burlington County, New Jersey, part of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.  This type of aircraft first flew on 12 July 1980 although it was in the October of that year that the first operational refuelling flight took place.
