Steadfast

Walking around town at lunchtime I took a little detour off the High Street to the back of Holy Trinity Church in Guildford.
This winged warrior angel that sits in the graveyard commemorates Major Geoffrey Parnell and his men who fell July 15 1916 at the Battle of the Somme.
It has been given Grade II listing by English Heritage.
It was made by the elder sister Edith Farmiloe, an artist.
An amazing bronze sculpture that I think I will probably like to capture again with more time.
