The Land

It's been a momentous day, and feel wrung out - but exhilarated and loved and humbled by the support we've been shown.

Long story, which I'd love to tell... but basically, went to Reguengos (under the sun in main photo) to the notary office with owner of land and lawyer - and found he wanted a lot more for the land than he'd said. Long discussions which resulted in a few thousand euros being knocked off, but after doing the sums, still felt we couldn't afford it. Was utterly depressing...

Anyway, talked to a few people we love, went for a long walk, including onto the Land - when I took these photos - do you see why we love it? (The twinkling town in the extra is Monsaraz.) We talked, we prayed, we listened, and then Mike went into the Adega to tell Sr Joaquim Antônio that...

...we will need to go to England to raise the cash (hopefully by remortgaging our house), but that we want to do the deal - even I was surprised that was what happened! But delighted and peaceful.

We are so grateful for all the conversations, for support, for people who care - and for this enchanting piece of land which we hope will be a blessing to many...

... and for all your comments and stars and hearts for the sunrise yesterday - you also are a great community, and love to you all!

Oh, and decided to add one in extras for Marcus' challenge, from our tiny celebratory bagaceiras in a local bar, where we went to be with people at the end of this special day - love the sparkles in the liquid.
