Bluebells...

Been busy today, I was out of the house early, 5am to drive over to Lackford Lakes to try and get some photos of Kingfishers. Unfortunately none turned up although there was plenty going on it was mainly Gulls and Geese arguing with each other... I did get a nice photo of a Common Egret shaking out it's feathers https://www.facebook.com/125068984539729/photos/a.125114691201825.1073741828.125068984539729/419808725065752/?type=3&theater and a nice portrait of a Mallard drake. Extra.

This afternoon we went over to Quendon, the village where I grew up, to see the Bluebells in the woods there.  Much of it is ancient woodland, and there are medieval earthworks, boundary ditches and ponds still very visible.  As are a great number of coppiced Hornbeams, that must be many hundreds of years old.

The bluebells here are spectacular!
