Lewis Chessmen......

......at The British Museum. In London for the day so took the opportunity to go to see the Lewis Chessmen, fascinating to think they date back to 1150 AD. They are made of walrus tusks and were found in 1831 at Uig on the Isle of Lewis.  Quite pleased with the blips as they were taken through glass and lighting was far from even!!  I have included a couple of extras of a Knight, Queen, Castle and a bishop. .

The reason for my interest - we are going to the Outer Hebrides later this year and we will visit the area where they were found and more men in Stonaway museum.
