John Rylands Library

Mr MD and I hopped on a tram into Manchester today and paid a visit to the amazing John Rylands Library, a late-Victorian neo-Gothic building on Deansgate.   The library, which opened to the public in 1900, was founded by Enriqueta Augustina Rylands in memory of her husband, John Rylands.  We also planned to visit The Chetham School of Music but, unfortunatey, it was closed for a wedding.  So, we'll have to go again.    It's surprising how many amazing and interesting places there are to visit so close to home.
