Danger of Death....

On the way down to Cornwell we broke the journey in Western Super Mare.

Walking along the sea front you eventually get to Birnbeck Pier. It opened in 1867 and eventually closed due to storm damage in 1994.

The title I've used comes from the sign you can see on the gate which seems like a very simple and clear warning to any potential visitors.

It's such a shame to see it so derelict after standing so long, but it is still a nicer place to visit than the Grand Pier :-)

It would be fantastic to get to look around. Even though it has only been abandoned since 1994 it must be fascinating to see what is left.

I had several photos from other angles but this showed the decay better so it seemed like a good entry for DS78.
