Dazzled

Dazzled, by Urs Fisher: from The Public and the Private.

The work of this contemporary artist is flung around the Legion of Honor museum in wonderful juxtaposition to classical works that have been there for ages. It was an unexpected treat to peek into all the galleries, looking for his pieces. They weren't hard to spot.

We were there to see Monet: the Early Years, which was thoroughly enjoyable; I was resigned to missing the later Impressionist work, and didn't really expect to be so enthralled with the pieces on display, but I was mesmerized by brush strokes and subtle color. We had fun picking out our favorite piece in each room, just in case they let us take one home.

Throw in a pipe organ concert of show tunes right there in the museum, Burmese food for lunch, a Nepalese dinner, and a stroll through Lincoln Park, and you've got a pretty darn perfect day.
