Jardins de Cap Roig

Today we visited the Gardens of Cap Roig ,described as being a singular and unique space on the Mediterranean.Nature, art, culture and history are united in this hillside enclave which holds nearly 1,000 botanical species from all over the world and sculptures by renowned Spanish and international artists. The open-air auditorium is the setting for a prestigious summer music festival.
Although early in the season there were masses of interesting flowers and plants to see and I was particularly impressed with the large cactus garden. We walked back to Llafranc along the coastal path but it was mostly downhill thankfully.
