Out of the woods

Easter Sunday

after a night at a rather normal hotel in a rather boring town, we started sunday at Jelling, a rather special place for those prehistory nerds like us.
Jelling is a place where two rather gigantic burial mounds and two large rune stones are placed. The bigger of those rune stones (see extra 1) is called Denmarks baptism certificate since it is from the first ruler who is believed to unite the country. The stone is also mentioning Denmark for the first time.
The associated museum is very well set up, educational and rather fun to visit - I really recommend it if you are ever close by.
Afterwards we went to Århus, Lars´ old hood, and he was eager to show me his town from its best. We strolled a while after finding our B&B, but the weather was rather nippy , so Lars suggested the Aros. And gosh, I had such fun here. The Aros (see extra 2) is a huge art museum with lots of different exhibitions on 8 floors, so there is something for everybody. I really liked an exhibition called "No man is an Island", where among others, you can see "Boy" (see extra 4) If you go into the Aros´ webside, there is a bit information about it.
We also went to the top, the so-called rainbow, and looked at Århus in all those different colourings - I put one of the shots in extra number 3.
I was rather tired after 3 days, so we took some take-away back to the B&B and stayed the evening in.
