ANZAC DAY.

Just picked one grave out at random for ANZAC DAY, amongst the WW1 fallen at Durrington Cemetry.
Private Robert  Clarey, no 6314, 26th Australian Infantry . Died on 23/04/1917 at Larkhill Camp. Aged 43. He was the son of George and Emma Bowman Clarey, Commercial Rd, Bulumba,Brisbane ,Queensland. Robert was born at Ipswich in the same state.
His parents had the following carved at the bottom of the gravestone. "Oh For A Touch of a Vanished Hand and A Sound of A Voice So Still".

Looked through the record book at the Cemetry,  the New Zealand surnames could easily be replicated on any war memorial here. The town names included Tokomaru,Wanganui, Taranaki, Newtown, Mataura Is, Alfredton, South Dunedin, Wimbledon and Tariki.
