ANZAC Day

To commemorate ANZAC Day I have chosen to show a lighter side to war. The shot is in my father’s photo album that he put together and sent home to Mum and me for Christmas 1941. He was in the South Pacific and the album has many photos of sea, sand, palm trees and clouds. But this page is devoted to a day when he and two of his brothers-in-law were on leave together. From left is my mother’s brother, her sister’s husband, and my father. They must have made him stand in a hole because he was a lot taller than them. I’m happy to say that they all came home and led long and productive lives. Many of their comrades didn’t.

We will remember them.
