Reflecting

Today is ANZAC Day where we remember our New Zealanders and Australians who were killed in Wars. When you look at the roll on any War Memorial you will often see many with the same surname and for the small towns like Timaru every family would have known one of these people.or they may have been related. For the small towns this was a huge loss of many men from the communities.
My Father was in a Forced Labour Camp run by the Germans as at that stage he was not of Military Age. My Mother saw German Atrocities of the Jews being sent to the Concentration Camps and worse. My Grandfather on my Mother's side was in the Dutch Resistance, was arrested for Harbouring Jews and was a survivor of German incarceration.
