Sad TT

This is the ‘ring’ off a sadly demised young greenfinch that Mrs W found on our hedge this afternoon.  As normal with such things it has been reported with the NHM (Natural History Museum) so they can update their records, and part of the reporting service they should come back and let us know when and where the bird was ringed.

Another sad thing is that in the past young demised birds that we have reported have been ringed fairly locally, so they did not get to see much of the world.

Thanks to Trisharooni for hosting Tiny Tuesday this month.

Ps – for the technophobes  technophiles:  all of Mrs W’s extension rings on the Tamron 18-270 plus the blue Cree torch as I could not be fagged to go and get a white one . . .

Feedback:

The bird was ringed in Dunsby (East of us) about 1 ½ years ago (November 2015), and was though to be in its first year then, so we can say it was about 2 years old when it flew into our window.  It looked younger.  Birds unfortunately fly into our window when spooked by something like a sparrow hawk.
