Carnations at the Castle

25th April today - obviously, but here in Portugal, a very important date, celebrating their almost bloodless revolution 43 years ago. We had firecrackers at midnight, lots of band music early on, as the army's second-in-command came to Mourão this morning to open an exhibition on the municipality's historical heritage.

We were all given red carnations and went up to the castle and stuck them in the cannons there, which is what happened in Lisbon in the revolution. We then walked round our land, had a picnic at the hermitage, and walked over 9 km more around the ancient walkways, talking all the way.

Now home, Keith and I are blipping, Jan is showering, and Mike is making us a curry...
