The Powder Puff...

The Powder Puff was repotted this last weekend.  The soil was muddy and retained too much moisture.  After pulling from the the roots were exposed....   the soil still had the perlite in it from 2 years ago when it was airl layered off of the mother tree.
The roots were circling round and round in the pot, long when combed out.  There were not many fine root hairs so there wasn't any trimming on the roots.  I decided to put the plant back in the pot with new organic soil that has a lot of texture in it for drainage.
The tree also needs to grow and develop more branching.  There are 2 very tender and young branches on the backside.  (You can see one of them on the left)  I put a couple of pieces of wire on the tree.  The first was on the top..... it had grown to tall.  It was wired and bent down and over on the left.  Then a tiny, tender branch was wired and brought down on the right, this was done to fill in the negative space and develop the right side.  A second branch was wired and brought around on the lower right........
and  Wall-La....   The bonsai is beginning to take a skeleton shape!
