Perfect Sky, Perfect Day

This memorial to local fishermen lost at sea, found in Zuanich Point Park on Bellingham Bay, was striking against the deep blue, cloud-studded sky that graced our area today.

Phil had a volunteer engagement that took most of his day, so I showed our visiting friends two of my favorite places -- the Bellingham Farmers Market and Zuanich Point Park. They enjoyed the pleasures of the farmers' market, but the park, on Bellingham Bay, really won their hearts.

I've never seen the harbor look more beautiful, with sunshine, colorful flowers, that splendid sky, and a gentle breeze making quite the most perfect setting. J and J have sailed in many places, from lakes in their home state of Minnesota to two weeks in the Greek islands, and the San Juan Islands here may now be on their list for a future visit.

We shared wonderful crab cakes and a seafood risotto at a waterfront restaurant, followed by local ice cream cones, all the while enjoying a free jazz festival taking place at the harbor!

It was a memorable and relaxing day -- simply perfect.
