Sony World Photo Awards

Went to see this exhibition at Somerset House today. What a great set of images. So many genres mixed up, you never know what's coming next. Some heartbreaking stories accompany many of the images, but there were also plenty of uplifting or just plain beautiful photographs.

I particularly like what the judge said about the overall winner (a series of snowscapes unusually - it's historically been photography of conflict that wins):

"... I hope that this will inspire many more photographers to take photographs that do not simply encompass the terrible aspects of life in these troubled times but also capture some of the joys and loveliness in each and every environment."
