Preparing For The May Flowers ...

Rainy, rainy, rainy!  Day two of steady rain, but I'm happy for it -- our well needs replenishing, and all this moisture is certainly making the grass unbelievably green.

In other news, I took Mabel to the vet this morning to try to get to the bottom of why she has lost so much of her fur.  The vet couldn't come up with any definitive diagnosis -- no sign of fleas, lice, mites, or any other nasty critters, and the fact that she is not itchy or scratchy seems to indicate that unwanted "visitors" are not the source of the problem.  A skin scraping was done and examined under the microscope with no sign of spores or other culprits.  The doctor is chalking it up to the stress of being in a kennel full of barking, howling, crying dogs.  I'm sure he's right.  After we got Mabel home, she slept pretty soundly for two days straight, and was clearly very, very happy to be back with us.
