Rare Fife Comma

This was to have been an Abstract Thursday landscape but I find this butterfly more significant.

After an absence of 180 years, the first modern-day sighting of a comma in Fife was in September 2003. I saw my first Fife commas in August 2009 and again the following year in the same location.
This is only the 8th that I have seen in 9 years. None at all last year.

Taken at Kinghorn Loch this afternoon.  Also present were 5 green-veined whites, 2 orange-tips and 1 small white.

Comma - Polygonia c-album.
