I don’t consider Paper Wasps friends - they don’t hesitate attacking and dining on the Monarch caterpillars and butterflies which I have in my garden each year. 

This one, and his friend were rather docile when I found them on this bush near the waterfront earlier today. I have added two extra photos showing the whole wasp from two different angles.
