Caen Hill (Monday 1st May 2017)

I've often noticed white doves when I've been at Caen Hill, in fact I think they have featured in past blips, and wondered if someone kept them nearby. This afternoon as I walked along the side of the canal opposite the towpath I spotted this dovecote in a garden to the north of the canal. (Looks considerably sharper in Large).

In the Extra you can see Mrs Swan sitting on the nest, and her partner in the side pond behind her, but I'm told that very sadly she has been robbed of her second clutch of eggs this year. I have no details, whether by human intervention or predation by weasel, otter or perhaps mink, or whether she has been left any eggs, or is trying now for a third clutch.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Jane Birkin - Fuir le bonheur de peur qu'il ne se sauve (recorded August 1983, Studio Continental, London)
Jane Birkin (vocals), Alan Parker (guitar),  Alan Hawkshaw (keyboards, arrangements, conductor), Brian Odgers (bass), Dougie Wright  (drums), Jim Lawless (percussion)
Jane Birkin has just re-recorded this for a new orchestral album, but this is the original from Baby Alone in Babylone. It was written by Serge Gainsbourg following their break-up, as a parting gift. Catherine Deneuve read the text at Serge Gainsbourg's funeral in 1991.
