Jackasses

If you hear them call, they sound just like one. We had a fabulous day going out to the end of Africa and the Cape of Good Hope. Unfortunately the sea fog had rolled in and there was about 30m visibility, but that added to the atmosphere. We walked along the Lighthouse Keeper's trail to the very end and were all alone. Plenty of baboons harassing cars along the road. We stopped at an ostrich farm and marvelled at their dinosaur legs. Then we went to Simon's Town to see the Jackass penguins. When M was here ten years ago you could just walk down to the beach and mingle with them, but now there is a boardwalk which is just as well, as some crazy tourists have done harm to them trying to pick them up etc. They bite too so advisable not to get too close. There was a nursery with plenty of chicks. and the views around all of the peninsula coastline are stupendous. Off to the wine region tomorrow.
