'Ne'er Cast A Clout.....'

It's an old country saying, 'Ne'er Cast a Clout Till May is Out' and it's good advice. There's always a chance of a unexpected frost until May is ended. Last year we put our tomato plants in early and had to cover them over with plastic but I noticed they weren't as fruitful as previous years so maybe the late cold snap did affect them.
We have our plants, Moneymaker (from our daughter Johanna) and Gardners Delight which are the small sweeter tomatoes. They are staying in the little cloche/greenhouse thing but the grow bags were bought yesterday and planting will be when I get back from Ypres, Belgium, early June. Unless the weather forecast is good for the last week or so of May - but even then the words will be ringing in my head!
