I love the ancient simplicity and subtle colouring of magnolia flowers.

After a trip into town to deliver a set of exam papers, I had a terribly boring 3.5-hour meeting. A seminar from a prospective collaborator, sandwiched between two meetings with my PhD student meant that there was some good scientific activity in the afternoon, at least.
