Water leaks

Mum had a good night.  My sister Rebecca who had come over last night to support an exhausted me with our parents was woken as much by me checking to see if she needed 'relieving' as by Mum who only woke twice and didn't stay awake for long.

This morning we labelled Mum's clothes and packed her bags and took her to a respite care home for 2 weeks to give Dad time to recover. Mum's not been away from family for more than 3 nights before and we were all very conscious that with any further deterioration,  it might be her last time at our family home where she has lived for 50 + years.

But things cannot go on as they are.

It was rather 'in keeping' that we woke to find the water meter outside the house leaking (the Council was duly called).  Low on the priorities for today, but seemed an appropriate picture

An emotional trio (Dad, Becca and I) settled Mum into her room at the care home.  She was positively chirpy; and as content, alert and happy as I've seen her for a while.  Then she looked at my sister and gently said 'Becca'.

Well, since she rarely says any distinguishable words and hasn't said our names for 3 years, you can imagine the emotional impact.

Talk about water leaks!
