Dynamic development of the industry

The steel fountain in the picture is a monument of Emil Aaltonen. It was designed by Raimo Utriainen, built in 1969 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Emil Aaltonen’s birth. The whole fountain can be seen in the extra photo, it symbolises dynamic development of the industry.

Emil Aaltonen was an industrialist, who had a significant influence on construction of the Tampere city and was also a well-known art collector and cultural philanthropist. Next to the fountain is a castle-like shoe factory built by Mr. Aaltonen.

Today was so warm that butterflies woke up! I saw the most common spring butterflies: peacock butterflies, small tortoiseshells and brimstones. I also spotted bumblebees. It really started to feel like spring and summer is just around the corner! Some Finns go crazy when it starts to be little warmer: I saw people wearing shorts and panama hats, while some wore still their winter coats.

Emma has a flu and she stayed home resting. She received an invitation to WU16 national team camp in June, one other girl (Liisa) from Emma's team was also invited. Emma loved to be part of the national team last summer and is excited for the upcoming summer.

+12°C, sunny
