Sunshine and Shadow

This afternoon in Edinburgh the sun was so strong that the shadows cast by this wrought iron fence were as black as the railings themselves.

It's a very impressive entrance to a modern block of flats - I guess it's a relic of an earlier building, or perhaps the original entrance to Morningside Cemetery.

We had a busy day in town and got home just in time to vote in the local elections. I hope I did it right - gone are the days when a simple X in a box was sufficient!
