If you can't beat them...

Male Orange Tip Butterfly.

A busy day round home so very few chances of blipping but I did take some shots of various flowers.  Late in the afternoon Clickychick was kneeling down taking shots of a recently acquired trollius.  When she stood up she said "do you want to take some of this"?  I almost said no thinking a Trollius would do for another day until she pointed out there was a butterfly bedding down for the night.

I obviously couldn't resist the chance of a butterfly sitting still because of either the strong winds or the falling temperature.  So here we have a resting male Orange Tip.  The species is widely distributed throughout the UK with the caterpillars unusually feeding mainly on the seedpods of plants such as Cuckooflower, Charlock and Garlic Mustard.
