Day 9. Auckland to Lake Taupo.

It was a beautiful day as we drifted down the North Island, taking in local sights. As we neared Lake Taupo we stopped at a Honey Farm to checked out their shop and try a honey and almond ice cream. The next stop was at the Wairakei geo- thermal area which produces electricity and finally we stopped at the Huka Falls.

The longest river in NewZealand is the Waikato River and it has its source at Lake Taupo. A huge volume of water is compressed into a narrow gorge and thunders over the exit to the gorge in a huge waterfall called the Huka Falls.

The main blip is the Huka Falls. The first extra is looking up the gorge to the exit of the river from the lake. The second extra shows a jet boat with tourists heading to as close as they dare to the foot of the falls.
