Wanderings with a Camera

Stones

These stones have been sitting around my house since my wife picked them up on Slapton Sands in Devon; they weren't on the beach but in the car park.

Slapton Sands was the scene of carnage in WW2 when American soldiers practicing for Operation Overlord were attacked by German E-Boats (small, fast powered attack boats). It is unknown exactly how many Amercians were killed in the night attack as the whole episode is still clouded in mystery, but it is said they lost more men there than they lost on the actual attack Utah beach in Normandy.
