R O B O T S

FRIDAY

R O B O T S exhibition is currently running at the Science Museum. It charts the 500 year history of robotic devices from intricate religious figures built by the Church the 16th Century right up to the present day.

From the clumsy robots of thirty years ago the current ones can move extremely fast and can manipulate and position objects to a precision less than the width of a human hair.

Social life-like and humanoid robots such as the one pictured in the extra are now starting to enter everyday lives. What new relationships will they bring?

The second extra is Harry- a 2005 Japanese trumpet plying robot.

I wish I had kept my original robot toys if the 1960s.

Finally, Harriet has received some good news in the offer of a place at medical school. All she needs to do now is get her degree.
