Autumn Colour of Orkney

Mike and his son left on the ferry at 7am so I got lots of useful things done good and early and had the rest of the day to play!

Ollie and I took Lucas for a good long run round the headland. Many of the barley fields have been cut now, but some of them still have the straw lying. Both dogs had a good roll in it - must have been like having a good scrub, getting right down to the skin and having a good back scratch. When we sat at the cliff edge to have a bit of a rest, both of them smelt of warm straw and the sun. A wonderful day, not too blowy and bright sunshine. It is definitely autumnal though. The air has a freshness to it, the colours are changing and there are lots of geese in the stubble fields.

So much for watching Elvira Madigan - ended up working on this! Comments welcome - and suggestions too, please!
