The neighbourhood's most beautiful tree

My neighbour invited me to his garden to admire the magnolia tree. 
It took 12 year before it blossoms, but now it is a big show off every year and gives the garden a wow effect.

I plan to plant a magnolia in my own garden, but I have no idea where to put it, and how it can survive in my chilly place :-)

I got a rare visitor today (extra).I think it is at least two years since I saw Eurasian bullfinch in the garden, and never in the spring, just winter visits.
