It's a long way back up!

Our village of Bonnieux, like the other hilltop villages in the area, has buildings from all ages, some dating back to the 13th century. There is history steeped into every bit of stonework. Despite being a great tourist attraction and some of the old buildings having been turned into art and craft centres, it is still a place where a lot of people live, so it retains its village character.

With a myriad of narrow streets and back alleys it is very easy to get lost. As we are at the top of the village, we have to make our way down to get to coffee and shops. Then it is a matter of having to climb all the way back up again. Not easy in this heat. But at least it's not boring, when there are so many different alleys and steps to choose from.
