Falkirk Wheel

The theme this week is wheels.
The Falkirk wheel doesn't really look like a wheel, but that's what it's called.
It's a clever contraption that moves canal traffic from the Union canal down to the Forth and Clyde canal, a drop of 35 metres.
It uses the same amount of energy in one turn as boiling 8 kettles and takes 15 minutes compared to almost a day for the 11 locks that it replaced which closed in 1933. It's been going for 15 years now. How time flies!
