Mexican Mennonites

When the Mennonites first emigrated to Canada, they were granted the freedom to educate their children as they pleased, but later two provinces of Canada rescinded those rights.  Several thousand of the most conservative Mennonites emigrated to the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Durango in the 1920's.  A troubled history ensued and not all is easy yet; many retained their Canadian citizenship and a fair amount have returned to Canada including these two couples now back in Canada for 12 years.  (For some reason, many of the Mexican women enjoy wearing ankle socks.  I think it is a style preference - not in any way a religious statement)

Also in Costco today was a Bangladeshi family and a beautiful set of eyes - check out Flickr.
