Five-lined skink

This little guy popped out from some rotting wood while I was doing a bit of weeding this morning. The blue tail shows that this is a juvenile and as an adult the blue will disappear and the whole body become more or less brown. This youngster is about 8 inches long and probably won't grow any more in length. These skinks are very common in the eastern part of the States, so this is no great find! It is just that they move so fast it is sometimes hard to photograph. Maybe this one was half asleep and I disturbed it! Its four legs are hard to see against the dirt.
